Day 7: 4 April 2009

The last day! Time really flies when you're having so much fun, especially with great and awesome friends.
Our wake up call was at 7:30am, which was considered late as compared to the other 6 days. We got to enjoy a few more minutes of beauty sleep, which we greatly treasured.
We checked out of our hotel, and the coach took us to Silk Street Mall. This street has imitiation products which look as good as real. The mall had it all - shirt, accessories, shoes, wallets you name it and they had it.
We could bargain our way and negotiate on prices. I bought a few shirts and a wallet at the price i was satisfied with. I had to half the price that the shopowner offered. I felt satisfed.
KFC was for lunch! It's the first time our meal was being delivered in a huge box for the 40 of us. The chicken tasted better than Singapore's KFC, probably because we missed Singapore's fast food.
The coach drove us to the airport, where we waited because there was a flight delay for an hour. We shopped at the airport while waiting for time to pass.
All in all, the trip was a memorable one as I learnt a lot about the people and culture in China. I also cemented bonds with my classmates and even made new friends.

After checking out of the hotel in Tianjin, we made our way back to Beijing by bus. The journey took roughly one and a half hour.
We visited Beijing Union University which specialises in Tourism and we were grouped with the students there as buddies again. This time round, the interaction time is longer as we had lunch together in their school canteen. It was a great experience to try their local school's food.
We then visited former residence of MeiLanFang together with our buddies. MeiLanFang was the best known Beijing Opera master and founder of one of the three greatest acting methods created by Shakesphere Stanislavsky and MeiLanFang.
Next we proceeded to the Hutongs with our buddies and enjoyed a ride on rickshaws. The riders were kind of racing with one another and it was so cool. We were brought to a person's house, taught how to make dumplings and we eventually got to try the dumplings made by us personally. I think they played really great hosts to the guests.

Dinner was at a hotel and it was a significant night for all of us as it was the last dinner that the whole GC was having together as a whole. The cool tutors got us wines to "compensate" us for missing the chance of wine-tasting session at the Dynasty Winery. *Yum Seng!
Our last night event was free and easy at Houhai pub area. It resembles Singapore's Clarke Quay area and some students got drunk!

Day 5 consists of many factories visits at Tianjin. We visited Dynasty winery and learned about the process of wine-making. It was an eye opener for us but we did not manage to taste the wine. Next was TCM factory and dairy farm. Honestly, the visits and talks were downright boring but T01 made it interesting by dancing and laughing! (:
We also visited the Residence of Emperor Puyi and learned about the history of him before shopping at cultural street where cute figurines could be bought. Dinner was mutton steamboat that we aren't very used to. In simple, it sucked.
Looks good...

But photos are deceiving.

We threw food in the fire and caused the area outside the room to be smokey.
Then was Shopping for our last night in Tianjin.

Today, we made our way to Tianjin by Bullet train and the journey took merely 30 minutes. The temperature in Tianjin was just right. Neither too cold nor too warm. We visited TEDA International School and were grouped with a few students there. They showed us around the campus and told us more about their school lives. However, we had very little time to interact with them.
We had a speaker from Singapore to speak to us about the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco City on how the Eco-City will be developed and what benefits it has on the people living in the Eco-City. We had a rough idea of how the Eco-City will look like in the future.
The hotel we stayed in Tianjin is called Ge Lan Yun Tian, a 4 stars hotel. It was great as the entire class stayed on the same level. Dinner was buffet at the hotel which I think it was very bad then majority of T01 with other classes took cabs to Nan Shi Food Street. One of the cabs went missing and got all of us worried sick. So, it was the cab driver who took them to another place but still, thank God nothing happened to our dearest classmates.
It was also April's Fool day and we managed to play some pranks on our classmates. Sorry to the victims! :D
